Story
The story of how the heroes and villains of Mortal Kombat and the DC universe could find themselves not only existing on the same plain, but battling each other revolves around coincidental victories in the respective realms by Raiden and Superman. In Raiden’s case it was a victory over Shao Kahn, while Superman bested Darkseid. These occurred at the exact same time and involved inter-dimensional elements, which somehow merged their two enemies into one being, Dark Kahn, while allowing the characters of the two universes to interact. In this merging the powers of the heroes and villains are scrambled as well, making some stronger than they ever were, and leaving others vulnerable for the first time in their lives, allowing each to battle on more or less equal footing. And battle they do without realizing that the uncontrollable rage that they feel for each other is actually the work of Dark Khan.

Gameplay
Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe being a fighter, gameplay consists of one-on-one battles, both in local play and online, in which players can choose a character from either side who will face off against a counterpart from the other. Each character has unique attacks and special finishing moves, and fighting arenas vary depending on whether your character comes from the Mortal Kombat or DC universe. Keeping with the reputation for brutality in the Mortal Kombat franchise, characters from this side will have access to fatalities, while the historically less overly violent DC Comics characters will execute “heroic brutalities,” which are end moves where the opponent while beaten, is not killed. The game also features new gameplay mechanics such as: Freefall Kombat, in which players can engage in extended combat while in midair; Klose Kombat, during which the play angle moves to a close-up view of the action; The “Test Your Might” mini-game where you smash your opponent through walls; and Rage Mode, which increases the power of a character’s attack by 50% and provides protection against being stunned by an opponent. Playable Characters
Playable characters in Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe consist of some of the most popular heroes and villains from both universes, with most being available from the beginning of the game and some unlockable throughout. They include the following:

Good And Bad, November 20, 2008
By
Rawim (Palmdale, CA USA) – See all my reviews
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe (Video Game)

It seems the more you read people talking about this game they either love it or hate it. I fall in the middle. I am just a casual gamer I play every now and then at night or on weekends, but I don’t spend every waking moment with a controller in my hands. So take that into consideration as I make this review.

Overall I think this a fun game. I have been playing Mortal Kombat games for a long time now and I find this one just as enjoyable. I think the mix of character is nice with some of your most popular MK characters with some of the most recognizable DC comics heroes and villains.

The gameplay has been tweaked a bit since the previous MK game, but it is nothing that you can’t adjust to, and overall I think it offers more character control. The special moves or super moves as called in the game are a fun mix too with most of your favorite moves form you MK characters kept in with a mix of a few new ones to keep things interesting.

We do have a return of the preprogrammed fatalities, but they have been toned down. No more dismemberment, decapitation, or removal of vital organs. This may be a big deal for you, but I don’t require a high level of gore to enjoy a video game.

As far as I can tell there are no hidden characters in the game, other then the unlockable boss characters. So don’t expect to find Reptile or the Martian Manhunter. But like most Xbox 360 games the game will support downloadable content in the future. But when new fighters show up is up to the video game publisher.

If you are trying to chose between the kollectors edition and the basica game save your money. The comic book that comes with the game is a quite small and almost just like a pamphlet and does not really add anything to the story. There is a small poster and a making of dvd. but you will probably be able to see all those videos on youtube before too long.

So a hardcore mortal kombat fan or gamer may not enjoy this game too much as it comes up short on gore and hidden characters. But the game still presents and interesting storyline and a chance to play as some of your favorite DC comics characters. I have it I enjoy playing it and hope to have fun with friends playing as superheros and undead ninjas.

This review is from: Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe (Video Game)

Despite reading a lot of negative previews and thoughts from game magazines and Mortal Kombat fans, I was very interested in this game and decided to buy it anyway. I am not a big comic book reader, but I like superhero games, movies, and the characters themselves. That is the main reason I wanted this game. I used to be a big Mortal Kombat fan as well, so everything together made me want to get this. Anyway, I think it is great. It is a ton of fun. The graphics in the characters and arenas are amazing, very clean looking. The gameplay is fun. I kinda suck at it, a little rusty in fighting games, but it is still a lot of fun. The fatalities may be a little watered down, but I think they are still awesome. Sub Zero will freeze an opponent, and then pounds him into hundreds of pieces. It’s good stuff. My favorite character so far is Green Lantern. The free fall fighting and klose kombat features are fun, a little difficult, but fun. i haven’t tackled the story mode yet, but will be starting that tonight. All in all, this game is exactly what I wanted: A great looking “pick up and play” game for when friends come over, that is fun, has awesome characters, and can be played forever. Pick it up if you like good fighting games or are a fan of either franchise.

Surprisingly more fun than I expected, November 17, 2008
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe (Video Game)

Great storyline to tie in the two universes and explaining how the heck some of these overated powerful heroes could be balanced out to make this a decent fighting game. Personally I could’ve thought of a better selection of DC heroes that would’ve fit more into the Mortal Kombat world but overall they did a surprisngly great job for the selection of DC cast that was chosen.I had to change my block button to LT for better response time for me to block but other than that, all was good. A great fighting game for the holidays with minus the weapons from previous MK games but great gameplay and good to see the MK cast finally crossover to the next generation systems. Which I think was long overdue. This is a keeper for fighting fans!

Before minigame collections flooded the Wii library…, March 15, 2012
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Wii Play (Game)

Wow. I’m somewhat disappointingly surprised. I never would’ve expected Wii Play to have a total rating of 3 1/2 out of 5. I thought it was a fun game. What’s wrong here? Well, I could only go so far as to explain how exciting this game actually is compared to what everyone else is trying to say.

So, Wii Play is, well, a minigame collection. It’s no Mario Party, where there’s a bunch of them after a turn in a board game. It’s no WarioWare, where there is minigame after minigame, and each would be 5 seconds. It is its own minigame collection, with a nice amount to choose from.

==Find Mii==
A game where you find a certain Mii or a number of the same Mii under a time limit. It is merely just clicking on the Mii(s) to win. Yet, I found it so darn addicting. I could go on forever, but anyone is bound to mess up sometime, clicking on the wrong Miis and having their time limit drop. It’s amusing to watch the Miis go up and down escalators, watch a race, float in space, run, and swim in some levels.

==Shooting Range==
You knew this one would be coming: Using the Wii Remote as a gun is ingenious, and we were all waiting for a title to utilize that. Shooting Range actually resembles NES classic Duck Hunt, except you are shooting targets, soda cans, and UFOs instead. Like Duck Hunt, it’s incredibly fun. Although it’s short (It spans just a few levels, containing one of the above objects to shoot in each), I would always come and play this one.

==Table Tennis==
This one is rather flawed. Instead of being an average game of table tennis, it’s a rally that you must keep up with the CPU as you hit the ball back and forth. It all ends after you miss the ball once. Playing with a friend IS an average game of table tennis, however, and it just leaves me with a question: Why wasn’t single player mode like this?

==Laser Hockey==
Ooh yes! Laser Hockey is a flashy neon Pong with an AWESOME techno beat. Definitely a fabulous play here.

==Pose Mii==
In this one, you simply change the pose of your Mii (Which you move around with the Wii Remote) to match the poses of the silhouette of said Mii that’s shown in bubbles. Move the Mii into the bubbles to pop them. Like most games in Wii Play, the premise becomes extremely addicting.

==Billiards==
This is why I said MOST games in Wii Play are addicting. Billiards isn’t what I’d call an addicting arcade-style game. As the title implies, this is a simulation of that game that you find in arcades or places like Carolina Ale House. It works pretty well into a Wii game, actually. You must not be clumsy, though, as the game requires you to move the Wii Remote in a rather precise way.

==Charge==
You’re gonna have lots of fun with this one while it lasts. Charge has your Mii ride a rampaging cow running over scarecrows in its path! You can tilt the Wii Remote forward to make the cow move even faster!

==Fishing==
Not the average fishing simulation, this game has you catch cardboard fish that are somehow alive. It’s not as hard as it may sound. You just have to leave the hook in the water for a bit, and the fish will peck at it. Then when one fully snags the hook, now’s your chance to yank it out! Once again, it’s a fun game.

==Tanks==
This one is arguably one of the best this collection has to offer. You move a tank around the environment, and you must destroy all enemy tanks to move on. The challenge is being able to conquer all kinds of tanks that may stand in your way, as well as to seeing how far you can go.

Overall, most of these games are certainly fun and addicting arcade-style games that will keep you at it for quite a while. It’s nice to be able to play with a friend in all of those games, too. Thankfully, this collection isn’t that pricey, so you can practically jump right into the fun!

Good Set Of Mini Games, December 13, 2008
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Wii Play (Game)

The standalone game is good, however it is lacking in a few aspects.I played all the mini games through to collect the gold medals, but in reality the only 2 I kept coming back to were the 9-ball game and the Tank Game. The life of this game is only extended when playing with another person for a short while before it gets a bit boring. To me, this game seemed more like a tech demo than an actually game. I recommend getting it, but not the standalone version. Get the version with a wii-mote because then it’d be like picking this up for about .

How to use the wii remote., March 15, 2010
= Fun:1.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Wii Play (Game)

This is basically a series of exercises to practice using the Wii remote. If you’ve played another game, then you don’t need this one.
I could see spending a few plays on a couple of the mini-games here, like the billiards or tanks games, but no more. I bought the Wii Play
version bundled with a Wii remote. That way it was just a few dollars more than just buying a remote. I don’t see any reason to buy this
otherwise. Of course, other opinions may vary.

Another Fun Set of LEGOS, March 29, 2011

This review is from: LEGO Star Wars III The Clone Wars 3D (Video Game)

Wow, i can’t believe i am the first one to write a review for this game. I can see all the other 3DS games have received a few reviews, but this one. I’m gonna give this game some lovin and attention.

It is hard to review a game in words, so i am going to do my best. I wanted a game that was Mario like and since the launch titles for the 3DS were lacking a Mario and Zelda, i ended up picking this title up because i enjoy action adventure games. I didn’t want Rayman 2 because it is another remake of the Rayman that was on the Dreamcast and the Rayman that was also released on the original DS Lite.

For anyone whose ever played the other installments in the Lego series (Batman, Harry Potter, Indiana Jones, etc) then one pretty much knows what’s in store. The game is a great action/adventure platformer. You get to control some of your favorite Star Wars characters in this game and level one actually starts off where you control Yoda. You scroll through the levels with different objectives and things that must be collected. You can also switch between characters at anytime. In level one, Yoda can change between 2 characters and of course these characters serve a purpose. For instance, one character can swing far distances where Yoda can’t, but he can levitate objects and so forth. Nice balance of utilizing players for different goals. Along the way, you’ll encounter many villians that must be defeated. This game is sorta of a button masher. Of course, if you have seen the movie then you will pretty much get the layout of each round/episode. The visuals in this game are truly stunning. It is so nice to see Nintendo ramp things up and provide PSP/PS2-esque graphics on a handheld and i knew they had it in them to create this, but i had no idea that such visuals could be served up in a cartridge and not on a CD-esque (UMD) form. I must stress the fact that 3D effects are a nice touch, but the game is really 2.5D and not 3D. When i purchased my 3DS i kept thinking that i’d be playing games like felt like watching the movie ‘Avatar’. That is not the case. Things don’t really fly at you, but some of the effects in this game do create that on a smaller scale such as, trees, branches, ships, etc. It just enhances the game where it gives the illusion that it is something the gamer can touch, but can’t. The game also functions well in 2D. The 3D is really just an added bonus and it works well in this title. When i was jumping around from platform to platform, my palms were sweating because of the 3 dimensional effect which made it seem that Yoda could fall off if he is to close to the edge. The rocks/platforms really POPPED and gave the game a breathe of depth that doesn’t exist in 2D hanheld/console games. Even the trees and explosions look stunning.

This is defnitely a game to own with hours of fun. I just wish the 3DS games were a bit cheaper. Thirty bucks sounds about right, but not forty.

Diam–shiny rock in the rough, October 15, 2011
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: LEGO Star Wars III The Clone Wars 3D (Video Game)

LSW 3 is a pretty good game and you get your moneys worth with it, assuming you paid 20$ or less. Before i get hateful comments, i thoroughly enjoyed this title and have put in 21 hours into getting 100% on it.Lets just get the regular questions out the way, it looks great the character models are smooth and framerate is persistent, it sounds good you get your standard pew pew and music.Unfortunately the content(or lack there of) and glitches hold it back from being something more. The game has some buggy issues, one being it freezes (happened about 6 times to me), rendering all your progress void because you have to reboot your 3ds i cant tell you how annoying this is because missions are rather long and you cant save in between acts, there are also times where certain things would not be present such as a minikit not in the location it should be or a door not opening to allow to progress(this is even less common). Their rare and of course not deal breakers but problems to be aware of. If you haven’t played a lego game like myself your going to play through this and have a great time seeing how creative the levels are and unlocking items and characters,if you have played the console version your going to realize you have a gimped port, its literally the same title as the DS/PSP and 10 dollars more and with 3D which at times you cant even tell its on (space battles really show it off though) its missing a huge chunk of missions and the ones you get could have been so much bigger but im assuming it was rushed for the launch of the 3DS it surely is strong enough to run the levels, still unforgivable at 40$ price tag.

speaking of which why is there no multiplayer?! Even the DS version had local multiplayer, big let down there would of loved to play this with my wife. Its a solid game, it has some extra mini games to unlock like volleyball and snowball fight, i have no idea what “40 bonus missions” amazon is talking about. In closing its a decent game kids might not notice or worry about the above statements but to a more mature audience who expects more for their moneys worth they may feel upset at full price, had it not been for the lack of software on the 3DS it would be another mediocre adventure title but this actually helps it in this case because you dont have much to choose from,overall i realize i bashed it alot in this review but that doesn’t mean i didnt have alot of fun with it If i had more space i could talk about the positives alot more, its just when i pay 10 dollars less than what the console version would cost me I expect alot more than this. I reccomend it if anything renting it, you’ll get a easy 8 hours at the least and it is a nice addition to a 3DS collection.

PS: To anyone needing Help with the Campaign or Item locations here is a good guide

Enjoyable Star Wars experience, does require some reading, January 6, 2012

This review is from: LEGO Star Wars III The Clone Wars 3D (Video Game)

I have played several Lego games on different gaming platforms, however this was the first Lego game played on my son’s 3DS. My son and I both play this game and we have found it to be enjoyable with a few criticisms.

Take heed of the age rating for this game. The content is perfectly fine for the younger age kids (my son is 4) but there is quite a bit of reading which can make it difficult for the younger kids to advance in the game.

The 3D aspect to the game is done well. I am not a big 3D fan, and my son is too young to use the 3DS in 3D, but when I do turn it on I have found that it’s integrated well.

My biggest criticism to the game is probably the auto saving scheme. I have found the saves to be to infrequent for my son and he ends up having to play the same level over and over again until he has mastered it. I would prefer to have an auto save at various checkpoints throughout a level.

I certainly recommend this game and would purchase it again.
